Design

As you would expect from a high performance Sony product, the KDL40W4000 is just as impressive as any other LCD TV that you would find on the market by other familiar brand names. On closer inspection, however, you can notice a glittery speckling finish which has been described by Sony as "Midnight Sky Colouring". The LCD widescreen itself has an elegant looking sheen of gloss, but the best part is that it isn't as reflective as you would expect it to be, certainly not as reflective as most plasma televisions screens you will find.

Along the bottom of the flat panel screen the Sony brand name logo is situated, a nice finishing touch is that it emits a subtle glow when the KDL40W4000 televisions set is on. Above all the though, probably the most impressive design feature on this model is the strip of glass, or at least seemingly a strip of glass along the bottom which separates the midnight sky finish from a thin bar of streamline but very effective silver speakers at the bottom.
